Principal’s Award goes to senior from Marshfield

MACHIAS — Machias Memorial High School Principal William Prescott has selected Cathy Tower as the 1991 recipient of the Maine State Secondary Principals Association’s annual Principal’s Award.

The award, based on scholarship, citizenship and participation in school activities, is given to outstanding seniors throughout the state.

Tower, daughter of Ronald and Lynne Tower of Marshfield, has been an honors student during her four years at MMHS and the recipient of the Math Award for three years, English Award for three years, History Award for two years, and the Science Award for two years.

She has been a member of the basketball team, the Video Club, a peer tutor, the National Honor Society, and president of the Student Council. In 1990 she was winner in the state video competition sponsored by the Maine Alliance of Media Artists. Last summer, she participated in the Bates Summer Scholars Program. Tower will attend Wellesley College in the fall of 1991.
