Penobscot Marine Museum plans Feb. 19 children’s vacation programs

SEARSPORT — The Penobscot Marine Museum will hold its annual school vacation program for children ages 7 through 12 Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Douglas and Margaret Carver Memorial Gallery on the museum grounds.

The programs, Whales on Wheels and Movable Moose, will be presented by the College of the Atlantic Natural History Museum’s Outreach Programs. The purpose of their programs is threefold: to enable the participants to gain facility with ecological and other scientific concepts, heighten their interest in science through unique participatory activities, and to practice problem-solving skills with their peers.

Whales on Wheels will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., and Movable Moose will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Each group is limited to 30 children, and there will be a charge of $3, $1.50 for members. For reservations, call Janice Kasper, museum education coordinator.

Parents may accompany their children, and are welcome to stay for the programs at no charge.
