Boiler operator, computer, bartending classes scheduled by NMTC at Loring

PRESQUE ISLE — The Loring Air Force Base branch of Northern Maine Technical College is offering three courses of interest to the general public and to base personnel.

A 12-week, 48-hour course to train boiler operators will begin Feb. 15. The course will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and is designed to prepare participants to take the boiler license exam. Guy Woodworth will be the instructor. Anyone who works on or near low-pressure or high-pressure boiler systems, or those who want to becoming certified boiler operators, are encouraged to enroll apply. The cost is $150.

Starting Feb. 7 are two six-hour computer seminars which will cover introductory and advanced functions of Lotus 1-2-3 computer software. The seminars will be held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Thursdays. No previous computer experience is necessary for the introductory seminar. The cost will be $60 plus books.

A 30-hour course on bartending will start Monday Feb. 11. The class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m Saturdays. Those who complete the course will receive a certificate, a bartending kit and a Mr. Boston Bartending Guide. The cost of the course is $150 and includes all fees and materials.

NMTC’s spring session at Loring, which will begin in April, will offer 20 credit classes. Schedules for these courses will be available March 1 and may be obtained by contacting the Loring branch.
