Students helping produce and perform in magic show

“The Cavalcade of Mystery,” a magic and illusion show in which high school students get a chance to produce and perform, will be presented by the Thomas School of Dance and the American Field Service Club of Bangor High School at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Peakes Auditorium.

The Thomas School of Dance will use its share of the proceeds for its Russian Cultural Exchange Program to bring Russian dance students to Bangor. The AFS Club will use its share for its exchange program.

The show is one of the largest touring magic shows. Its Maine tour is based in Winterport. Star performer Richard Volcane has toured for more than 40 years.

The show offers local students a chance to work with a professional cast and be paid for their efforts. Monique Gibauleau, a student at Old Town High School, will help Volcane with his main illusions.

Tim Bragg, a student at Bangor High School, will help and perform his own magic sequence.

Chad Melland, a Hampden Academy student, will help producer Anne Lewis as technical director and at the box office.

Advance tickets are at Bryant’s Gift Gallery, 44 Main St., Fairmont Market, 662 Hammond St., Libby’s Card Shop, 629 Broadway, Thomas School of Dance, 86 Central St., and from members of the AFS Club.
