ELLSWORTH — Downeast Transportation announces that College of the Atlantic students will be able to take a bus on Saturdays to the UMaine library in Orono.
According to Tom Crikelair, general manager of Downeast Transportation, regularly scheduled service between the Bar Harbor and Orono campuses will begin Jan. 5. The new service will be available to anyone who wants to ride and will include stops in downtown Bangor, Eastern Maine Medical Center, the student union building at UM and the Bangor Mall. Round trip fare for COA students will be $5; for non-students, the fare will be $10 from Bar Harbor and $8 from Ellsworth. High school students also may ride for the $5 fare.
The bus will depart Don’s Shop ‘n Save in Bar Harbor at 9:17 a.m.; COA campus at 9:20 a.m.; and the corner of Main and Franklin streets in Ellsworth at 9:50 a.m. Stops at three senior citizen apartment complexes in Bar Harbor and the Union River Estates in Ellsworth also will be included.
Arrival at the Pickering Square bus depot in Bangor is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., EMMC at 10:35 a.m.; the student union at 10:55 a.m. and the Bangor Mall at 11:10 a.m..
The return bus will leave the Bangor Mall at 2:45 p.m. and the UMaine campus at 3 p.m.
