Wotton powers Lynx to victory over Ponies

LINCOLN – Lynn Wotton came off the bench and had a big third period to help lead the host Mattanawcook Academy Lynx to their second schoolgirl basketball win in two outings, a 60-52 victory over Foxcroft Academy here Thursday night.

After the score had been tied 26-all at intermission, Wotton ignited an MA rally in the third with 8 of her 10 points, including the game’s only 3-pointer.

Holly Ludden led the winners with 15, Nicolette McGinley had 11, and Wotton 10.

The Ponies of Dover-Foxcroft, 0-2, were led by Leah Thistle with 12 and Jennifer Michaud with 10.

Rachel Cookson paced 2-1 PCHS with 15 points and Melissa Thompson added 14. Tammy McKenney chipped in with 13 points.

Leading the Owls’ scoring was Kelly Picard with 14 points. Brenda Hebert had 13. Picard also grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds.

For the 0-1 visitors, Hillard Smith had 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Stephanie Lapierre scored 10.
