Hospital inviting back its 1990 babies to celebrate joy of Christmas season

MACHIAS — With the approach of the Christmas season, the obstetrical department at Down East Community Hospital is inviting all of its 1990 babies and their families to join the medical facility in celebrating the season of joy.

Nan Wright, R.N., charge nurse on the obstetrical unit, explained how the babies and their families can participate in the scheduled Jan. 1, 1991, celebration. “Babies of 1990 are your joy, our joy, and joy to the world. We could think of nothing more appropriate to usher in the season that celebrates the birth nearly 2,000 years ago of the `babe wrapped in swaddling clothes’ than to invite all babies born at DECH during this year to share a photograph of themselves with the maternity department personnel. All pictures submitted will be displayed as part of our Christmas decorating.”

Wright emphasized that this was not a photo contest, but the staff was providing a $50 savings bond which would be presented to one of the babies and its family after a random drawing on Jan. 1. “All participants who share the holiday spirit with the obstetrical staff will be included in the drawing,” she said, urging parents to send a snapshot they would like to share to the DECH OB Unit, RR 1 Box 11, Machias 04654.

Photographs will not be returned unless specifically requested and a self-addressed envelope is included with the photo submission.
