Job Source helps employ disabled adult workers

ABBOT — A new employment service for disabled adults in Piscataquis and Penobscot counties, designed to provide employers with productive, reliable and motivated employees, opened Oct. 18.

Job Source matches eligible employees with interested employers and provides an array of training and placement options to benefit both the worker and employer.

Services include short-term, on-the-job assessment of worker abilities, assignment of a professional job coach to assist the newcomer with unfamiliar tasks, and continued support after hiring.

The service also insures long-term success for all parties by arranging pre-employment training, initial transportation, job shadowing, analysis, Department of Labor wage certificates and targeted-jobs tax credit.

The underlying philosophy of Job Source is the belief that everyone can perform productive work.

Kay Blanchard at Job Source is available to answer questions. Call 876-3636 or write to her at Job Source, P.O. Box 153, Abbot 04406.
