AUGUSTA — The annual meeting of Diocesan Human Relations Services Inc. will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at St. Augustine’s Parish complex, 1 Kendall St., Augusta.
DHRS is the social action and social services arm of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland. It is the largest private social service agency in Maine and comprises of 35 programs at 50 Maine sites.
The theme of this year’s meeting is “Forward to the Roots,” exploring the roots of the agency’s mission in church social teaching.
General registration will be held 4-6 p.m. in the parish hall, after the board meeting in the parish school. The liturgy will be held at 5 p.m. in St. Augustine’s Church, with Bishop Joseph J. Gerry as chief celebrant.
A social time will be held at 6 p.m. in the parish hall, and the evening session will open at 6:30 p.m. with presentation of the annual Employee of the Year and Community Service Awards.
A buffet dinner will be served by the Ladies of Saint Anne at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Paul C. Christian, director of the DHRS Office of Social Justice and Peace.
Cost of the annual meeting is $12, which is due by Nov. 6.
