I wish to express my support for Sive Neilan, Democratic candidate for Maine Senate District 21.
As a political activist, I have worked with Sive on many issues in our communities and in Augusta. She is passionate, articulate, and knowledgeable. She would be a great addition to the Maine Senate because she cares about people, cares about preserving democracy, and cares about the future of Maine.
Because of her experience as a small business person, she is sensitive to the issues that affect the business community. She is also aware that economic strength includes the health and welfare of its workers. We can count on Sive to work effectively for equitable wages, affordable health care, fair taxes, a safe working environment, and quality child care. We can count on Sive to work to preserve and promote our civil rights, a clean environment, our personal reproductive choices, our children’s right to a decent education, and our right to be safe in our homes and on our streets.
Her Republican opponent, on the other hand, has voted against the family medical leave act, against the civil rights bill, against improved safety standards for users of VDTs (computer screens) on the job, against establishment of the Maine Health Advisory Committee, against a bill promoting barrier-free construction (handicapped accessibility) in places of public accommodations and employment, and against raising the minimum wage.
For the future of all Maine people, vote for Sive Neilan. Chris Rusnov Winslow
