Penobscot Valley Bantams split
PORTLAND – The Penobscot Valley Hockey bantam Bears split a pair of games against Casco Bay of Portland at the Portland Ice Arena here over the weekend. They won the first one 2-0 before dropping the second one, 3-2. In the first game, Buddy Syphers and Angus Patterson got the goals. Patterson’s was into an empty net and Cory Thibodeau assisted on it. Megan Smith made eight saves for the winners. Shawn Baldwin had 18 stops for Casco Bay. In the second game, Chad Drew’s goal broke a 2-2 tie and gave Casco Bay the win. Hayes Henderson and E.J. Anderson had the other goals for the winners and each had an assist. Mike Veccihone also had an assist. Thibodeau and Jimmy Evans scored for Penobscot Valley and picking up assists were Syphers and Chris Shepley. Baldwin had 18 stops while Penobscot Valley’s Quai Love had 17. Casco Bay is now 6-2 while Penobscot Valley is 3-3.
