WALDOBORO — Two area teachers, Nancy T. Jones and Peggy Calderwood of Warren, attended the fifth annual Natural Resource Institute, a workshop in environmental studies.
Jones teaches fourth grade at the Friendship Village School, and Calderwood teaches sixth grade at Frank D. Rowe School in Warren. Both were sponsored to the event by the Knox-Lincoln Soil and Water Conservation District.
The weeklong event prepares teachers to integrate environmental subjects into their regular curriculums. Speakers, tours and materials focus on agriculture, forestry, water, geology, wildlife, waste management and related information.
The Maine Association of Conservation Districts organizes the event annually. Co-sponsors include state, local and federal agencies and the University of Maine at Farmington.
