Caring country music fans

“A song bad enough to start a war.”

Hank Williams Jr.’s new song, “Don’t Give Us a Reason,” recently was received by local radio stations. It may not be the literary masterpiece of the century, but it gets the point across. I, for one, appreciate his efforts.

I resent the implication by Royko that country and western fans and entertainers are less than intelligent. I am proud to be a country fan. I have my teeth. My eyes do not meet at my nose, and my intelligence is still very much intact.

I feel honored to have served my country in Vietnam and I support the men and women who are stationed in and en route to the Middle East….

I am calling for my fellow country music fans to show these cynics who would question our capabilities to unite. Support those who are willing to defend our freedom at any cost. Support them by showing your concern. Support them with your prayers. When possible, support them with an encouraging card or letter. Let them know country people care.
