I had to respond to a letter published in your Aug. 21 edition.

Jock McKernan has raised taxes and you don’t have to look very far. He raised taxes on alcohol consumed on the premises. He raised the sales tax on casual sales of boats. He raised the sales tax on video tapes. He raised taxes on tobacco.

As far as I can see, McKernan has been the taxer and Joe Brennan has been the saver. I’m all for saving instead of taxing and spending which McKernan seems to do best. Elizabeth Rose Blue Hill
