HOULTON — Adult education classes in Region II will begin the week of Sept. 3 in SAD 25, SAD 29, SAD 70 and Southern Aroostook Community School District, and Sept. 17 in SAD 14.
Residents 17 and older who are not enrolled in a public school are encouraged to register for classes either in person or by calling the adult education office nearest them. Many courses have limited enrollments and early registration is suggested.
Registration schedules are as follows:
SAD 29, Houlton, daytime during regular office hours, and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 22 and 29 at Houlton High School.
SAD 70, Hodgdon, daytime during regular office hours, and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at Hodgdon High School.
SAD 25, Sherman Station and SAD 14, Danforth, registrations will be taken the week of Aug. 27.
New fall programs will include a Food-Service Supervisor Program for people who work in acute and chronic health-care settings. Personal enrichment, vocational, high school completion, literacy and post-secondary programs also will be available.
All five Region II sites are connected with the University of Maine Interactive Television System for those interested in taking college courses.
Northern Maine Technical College courses will be offered at Houlton and Hodgdon for degree programs in accounting and business administration. Carpentry and licensed practical nursing courses also will be offered at Houlton.
All sites feature open enrollment for preparation in the areas of basic skills and high school equivalency examinations. In addition, a daytime program is offered in SAD 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, at the Parkview Learning Center in downtown Houlton.
