A Carmel man was listed in fair condition at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor Monday suffering from a foot injury he received while water-skiing on Green Lake Saturday afternoon.
Warden David Georgia Jr. of the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said Clarence Sawyer, 40, was skiing near the Ellsworth landing at about 2 p.m. when he fell and the tow rope wrapped around his ankle.
Georgia said the accident nearly amputated Sawyer’s foot. Sawyer suffered from a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle, said Georgia.
Sawyer was skiing behind a boat driven by Jerry Prescott, 40, of Carmel and was said to be an inexperience skier.
Sawyer was taken to the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth and later transported to EMMC.
