MACHIAS – Alan Taylor singled three times and drove in a run to help lead the Machias All-Stars to an 11-10 win over Border of Monticello in District 3 Little League baseball playoff action here Tuesday.
Machias’ victory sets up a decisive third game to be played Wednesday at Bangor West’s home field at 5:30 p.m. The winner will go on to play Coastal of Blue Hill for the District 3 crown.
In District 2 Little League action at Waldoboro, Waldo County eliminated Waldoboro 14-2 behind the 5-hit, 13-strikeout performance by Davie Davis.
The win advances Waldo County to the championship game against undefeated (2-0) Belfast Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Waldo, 3-1, must beat Belfast twice to win the District 2 title.
Rain forced the postponement of Monday’s state Little League softball tournament in Wells. The games are rescheduled for Wednesday when Lewiston will play Windham at 2:30 p.m. and Machias will take on Wells at 5:30 p.m.
Machias 11, Border 10
Machias scored nine runs in the first three innings and put down a Border rally in the last two innings to get the win.
For 4-1 Machias, Ryan Clay pitched an 8-hitter to knotch the win. Mark McGuire Jr. singled twice.
For 4-1 Border, Jared Carter doubled twice and hit a solo home run for 3 RBIs. Larry Carll hit 3 singles and drove in 2 runs. Jeremy White had a pair of singles and a pair of RBIs.

Waldo 14, Waldoboro 2
At Waldoboro, Joe Littlefield singled twice to help pace the offense for Waldo County.
For 3-1 Waldo County, Davie Davis hit a pair of singles.
The loss eliminated 1-2 Waldoboro. Jason Simmons hit an RBI single to lead the offense.
