Golfers to tee off for cancer research

SKOWHEGAN — The Somerset Unit of the American Cancer Society is planning its “Longest Day of Golf” Thursday, June 21, at Lakewood Golf Course. Playing all day will be Diane Hayden, Julie Magoon, Betsy Frohlich, Nancy Adams, Leitha Wallace, Gloria Rodden, Dottie Metzger and Sylvia Cowen.

Funds raised from those pledging a donation for each hole completed will support cancer education and research in Maine. By June 21, the teams would like to be playing for at least $25 a hole.

Anyone wanting to make a pledge to Skowhegan’s “Longest Day” may do so by calling the Lakewood Golf Club at 474-5955. For more information call the American Cancer Society at 474-8533 or 1-800-482-0113.
