Eastern Maine Technical College will hold its 23rd commencement at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Johnston Gymnasium on the college campus on the Hogan Road in Bangor.
This year 223 students will receive their diplomas in a ceremony featuring Sen. George J. Mitchell as the keynote speaker. The program also will include an awards presentation and a senior address.
The college’s president, L. Steve Thornburg, who is leaving the college at the end of the year, will present the diplomas to the students. Vice President and Academic Dean Nathaniel J. Crowley Jr. will present Awards of Excellence to students representing each of the college’s technology programs.
Mark L. Kingsbury, a senior in the Welding Technical College from Frankfort, will deliver an address to his fellow graduates. Crowley has described Kingsbury as a prime example of an individual who has excelled with hard work.
