Skowhegan panel selects company to design playground

SKOWHEGAN — The Skowhegan Playground Committee has selected the firm “Creative Playspaces” of Brunswick to present their concepts for a new community playground.

The company’s architect and founder, Steve Normand, will be in Skowhegan on Tuesday, April 24, to meet with the children in area schools for Skowhegan’s Design Day. That evening, at 7 p.m., at the Skowhegan Community Center, a public meeting will be held. Normand will then present his proposal for the design and construction of the playground, incorporating the schoolchildren’s ideas.

He will also answer questions about the process of organizing, planning and building this type of playground.

Normand has 13 completed playgrounds in Maine and is currently under contract with six other Maine and Massachusetts communities to direct their playground processes.

The public meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and refreshments will be served.
