Speech therapy services are available for Kno-Wal-Lin Home Health patients

ROCKLAND — Speech therapy services are available for Kno-Wal-Lin Home Health Care patients, but until recently the services were limited because of a shortage of speech therapists.

Since January, however, that has changed. Kno-Wal-Lin has hired Ann R. Hart CCC:SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence: Speech Language Pathologist). Fully licensed in Maine, Hart received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and early childhood development and a master’s degree in speech pathology, both at Arkansas State University.

She has worked as a speech language pathologist in a variety of settings, including hospitals and long-term care institutions in Florida and in home health care in Florida and Arkansas, providing speech therapy services to adults and children.

Speech therapy services for adults are often used with patients who are diagnosed with stroke, swallowing disorders, hearing impairments, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s Disease.

Children with developmental disorders, language, articulation problems or hearing impairment are assisted with speech therapy. Their parents are actively involved in their treatment programs, using the techniques Hart teaches them.

For additional information on speech therapy or other home health care services, call Kno-Wal-Lin Home Health Care in Belfast at 338-2002 or 1-800-451-2223.
