Ireland, Clay win council seats in Lincoln

LINCOLN – Incumbent Steve Clay and challenger Marscella Ireland won two open Town Council seats by substantial margins in the election Tuesday, Town Clerk Lisa Goodwin said.

Ireland will join her husband, Michael, on the council thanks to her receiving 1,366 votes, while Clay was elected to his third term with 1,086 votes. Byron B. Sanderson received 684 votes, James B. Libby 671 and Shaun R. Drinkwater 583 in losing efforts.

In the race for three open seats on the SAD 67 board of directors, John R. Trask won with 1,680 votes, as did Michele L. Morrison with 1,616 and David M. Edwards with 1,503. Jeffrey E. Schick lost with 1,198 votes.

In the referendum question, voters rejected – by a 1,175-1,117 vote – building a new public works garage for just under $700,000.
