Quimby’s hypocrisy

I should hope Mainers don’t fall for Roxanne Quimby’s hypocritical “responsible buying” blather (“The color of honey,” BDN, Feb. 27).

This is nothing more than a self-serving sales pitch. Right along with statements about Americans’ buying decisions and fun products, please note that all the cotton for this clothing is grown outside the U.S. and all the labor is done in China.

Does this really sound like the responsible buying choice for us as Maine citizens? Don’t forget that the money she made in her previous venture went toward making sure that large tracts of land in our state lie idle and are inaccessible to the local citizenry for traditional recreational use. You know – fun?

It’s clear enough to me that her aim is to control Maine land for the benefit of others, not us. Don’t buy her hypocrisy or her clothes.
