ROCKLAND – A city man was charged this week with sexually assaulting a boy and a girl.
Jason Simpson, 37, of Rockland was arrested Wednesday on one count of gross sexual assault following an investigation by Knox County sheriff’s Detective Donna Dennison.
The alleged victims were a 5-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl.
Assistant District Attorney Carrie Carney said she anticipates additional charges involving the same children
Simpson has been living in the area for about two years, Carney said.
On Wednesday, Simpson appeared before Judge Patricia Worth in 6th District Court, where he was charged by prosecutors with two counts of gross sexual assault stemming from the alleged Oct. 8 offenses.
The judge set bail at $10,000 cash or $50,000 surety.
A probable cause hearing is set for Dec. 15 in District Court.
